Geez I suck!!

Haven't updated since 15ish weeks--thats sad!! Pregnancy is so different when you already have a child running around! No time to dwell on every little hiccup or kick! So I'm 37 weeks and 3 days today, and feeling every bit of it! I've had some seriously uncomfortable weeks, and some not so bad weeks, and I can honestly say, I am ready! I never felt like this with Emma--I was happy as a clam large and pregnant until I went into labor with her at 39 weeks and 5 days--I was fine being pregnant, and in no hurry to not be pregnant. But this time, I'm ready.

And hopefully not too much longer to wait! I woke up two weeks ago, and the baby was breech. It was after a big storm that had lasted all night long, and I'm pretty sure that had to do with the baby turning. I called my trusty chiropractor and texted my fabulous midwife, and we started a plan to get the baby to turn. A breech birth really freaked me out for some reason, although the risks with breech are less than the risks that come with a c-section. But I saw the chiropractor who did the Webster method for two weeks in a row, and at my prenatal appointment with my midwife this past Tuesday, the baby had turned, and was pretty engaged! So I am glad for that, and I really do feel ready, knowing that!

I've got all our newborn wool ready. Considering I'm not a huge fan of gender-neutral things, I knitted 4 pairs of girly longies and 3 pairs of boyish ones. I'll just sell the ones I don't need to buy new yarn! I've got newborn cloth diapers ready to go, our birthing pool arrived last week, we've got our co-sleeping pillow, and my diaper bag came yesterday! I think everything is really ready to go!

Movement? Already?!

Pretty sure that is a baby I feel moving around in there (at 15.4ish weeks)! Which is somewhat surprising, considering I didn't feel E moving until like 24 weeks. But, "they" say with subsequent pregnancies, you know whats going on and you are more aware, so you know what you are feeling sooner than the first time. I'm glad. Its my favorite part of pregnancy I think. E and I made the trip to see the midwife this week (its an hour drive, one way)--good appointment. Weight is 129 (up from 115ish at the beginning of the pregnancy), baby's heartbeat was around 140-150, and the baby was very wiggly--it took S a few minutes to be able to catch the baby to get enough time to count the heartbeat!

Great April Fool's joke today--I mean seriously people?! Its April Fools'--of course we aren't having twins. Well at least, we don't think we are. Hopefully the joke is not going to be on us in a couple of months when S can hear things with the fetoscope!

E told me a detailed story a couple of weeks ago about how she had a baby in her tummy, and when it was time for the baby to come out she was going to the doctor. I told her that other people can help her baby come out, and she asked "like who?" I reminded her that Mommy is seeing a midwife, and she said "Oh I have my own midwife. And she lives in Concord, which is MUCH closer than your midwife." (Very true). I asked her what her midwife's name was and she told me "Beth Burkett Midwife." Hilarious, I tell you!!

Burkett #2

We heard the baby's heartbeat on Tuesday. We also met our midwife for the first time. It went great-E said "oh its the baby." She was mostly unimpressed and more than a little irritated that the midwife didn't "fix the baby out of mommy's tummy." The other day she was picking out bathing suits for the baby--I know she was disappointed when I told her the baby wouldn't be coming out in time for swimsuit season. I think that she just expects the baby to be a girl--I don't think she has considered the other possibility. She will be blown away if it is a boy! Heartbeat was 170 at 11 weeks, 1 day.
